Interviewing Training

One of my specialties is interviewing training. I’ve trained interviewers (and producers) for CBC Radio and TV and NPR and am the author of the widely used text, Asking Questions: The Art of the Media Interview (also published as How to Interview). I have also taught interviewing training to professionals such as lawyers and accountants.

I often speak on interviewing at universities and colleges (such as Ryerson, York, King’s College, Centennial College) and at conferences for, among others, the Canadian Association of Journalists, Professional Writers Association of Canada, Wordstock and the Association of Certified Fraud Investigators.

For several years I taught the “Interviewing for Magazine Journalists” course as part of Ryerson University’s Certificate in Magazine Publishing program.

An international assignment several years ago brought me to Malta where I conducted interviewing workshops for reporters and editors at the Times of Malta newspaper. “The seminar was a perfect way to get us out of our comfort zone and start challenging the way we tackle interviews,” says Ariadne Massa, a reporter with the Times of Malta.
